March and April
2009
I'm finally able to sit at the computer and give you an update. This year has been absolutely crazy,
we've slept more in the motorhome than we have in our own bed. On March 7th, we headed to Mt.
Zion Elementary School for their Arts and Craft Show displaying our car and selling our
merchandise. Weather played a big factor because we were displaying outside. Who would of
thought, we could have mild temps and only a slight chance of rain in March but we were able to
get it in with only a sprinkle

We were back in Indy on March 13-15 for a flea market at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. This was
an indoor event with vendors from all over the area selling all kinds of products ranging from
antiques to food products. Sales for us wasn't good, we had a lot of lookers but not buyers. The
general consensus from the other vendors was the same.

On March 20-22, we were in Cleveland, OH for the 43rd Annual Federated Auto Parts Auto-Rama
located at the huge I-X Center next to the Cleveland Airport.  With 400 plus cars in attendance and
several thousand spectators this show was a great success. This was the first time we tried the
reaction time simulator and the people who participated had a ball racing against friends and
family. The reaction time winners are as follows:  Wally Melvin .000 rt. Dick Reinwald .006 rt. Mike
Costic .000 rt. and Ronnie Powers .001 rt.

We had a weekend off and then on April 3-5 we were off to Peoria, IL for Central IL Auto Dealers
New Car Auto Show. This show displayed all the new cars of 2009 and other area vendors. Our
display was a very popular attraction with several hundred people standing in line to get a chance
to set in a real dragster getting pictures and buying a souvenir.

Two weeks later, we attended the Delavan, IL Cruise-In. The impending forecast wasn't good but
we left with good intentions of completing the show. The people of Delavan were very appreciative
of us showing up. There was about 25 to 35 cars in attendance but the weather didn't cooperate
and the rain came after a couple hours and cut us a little short. We still had a good time and met a
lot of nice people.  I would like to go back later in the year.

We're now in the last weekend of April and we attended the 3rd annual Indiana State University
SAE Automotive Showcase car show. There were over 70 cars in attendance and the weather was
nice, several people came by to see the race car and check out our merchandise. It was nice to get
a chance to visit with Nick Agresta former owner / operator of Coles County Dragway and general
hot rod enthusiast, he was showing his classic limousine.
April 26

After several shows and many miles on the road, we finally reached our first race of the year. We
started off on a good note with a Quarter final finish. My driving was a little rusty but we were able
to put down some pretty good drivers along the way including Corey Butler, Jim Falbe and Scott
Gordon before getting a driving lesson in the 5th round from top 10 Jegs Super Quick finisher Al
Peavler. Peavler used a .512 reaction time and peddled to an 4.86 on his 4.83 dial to send me home.
The year is young though and there's a lot more races to come. See ya in the winners circle.
